The City of Stratford will host a music celebration in Market Square this July 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a family-friendly program featuring entertainment, fun activities, and food trucks. Live performances on the main stage include Festival Brass (instrumental), Lea Keeley (upbeat soul/pop), Okama (Indigenous folk), Upside of Maybe (upbeat pop), and The Bookends (original Celtic).
Other event highlights include the Cozy Can Photo Booth, Mohawk balloon artist Mister Twister and child-friendly activities by community partners. Food trucks include sweet and savoury offerings from Ken’s French Fries, Beavertails, My Big Fat Food Truck and Simple Dreams.
The outdoor celebration will be enjoyed rain or shine, and organizers encourage those attending to come decked out in colours of community support: red and white for Canadiana, blue and yellow to show support for Ukraine, orange as a symbol of solidarity in Truth and Reconciliation, and rainbow colours to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride.
A free Canada Day public swim will also take place at the Lions Pool from 2-4 p.m.
Other Canada Day events, including a parade, live music and fireworks, are being hosted by community partners.
