The Salvation Army recently opened a Housing Resource Centre for residents in Stratford, Perth County, and St. Marys.
The Centre, funded by the City of Stratford Social Services Department, helps people to find and maintain permanent housing, and focuses on individuals and families who are experiencing housing instability, homelessness, or are at risk of homelessness.
The Centre has locations in both Stratford and Listowel, but due to pandemic lockdown orders, services are currently being provided over the phone.

In addition, the Centre provides budgeting and money management services through its Voluntary Trusteeship Program, which helps households move towards greater financial independence.
“We know how important a safe, stable, and permanent home is for people,” says Captain Mike Mailman of The Salvation Army in Stratford, “and we are pleased to offer this program to residents in our communities.”
“This program is filling a service gap locally,” adds Alex Burgess, the City of Stratford’s Manager of Ontario Works. “It’s a place for people who may need a little assistance with finding housing but who don’t require the intensive supports that some of our other programs offer.”
