The City of Stratford and investStratford have launched the next phase of the Stratford Attainable Housing Project, which aims to develop programs designed to create more attainable market housing in Stratford.
To address challenges in the availability and attainability of suitable and adequate housing, the City of Stratford is researching and developing an Attainable Market Housing Community Incentives Toolkit (CIT), and Attainable Market Housing Pilot Project to encourage the generation of more attainable housing.
Stakeholder and public consultation will begin this fall to help inform the next steps in the process. More information about the project, including a list of online and in-person engagement opportunities and a public survey, is available at www.engagestratford.ca
City Council is expected to consider an implementation work plan and the incentives toolkit in 2023.
If approved by Council, the project would encourage private sector investment into housing within the community, while also identifying projects and initiatives that may be implemented by the municipality to assist in housing availability and attainability.
Previously announced by Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the project is funded through the Rural Economic Development (RED) Program to the City of Stratford and investStratford.
