Applications Now Open for Joint Compliance Audit Committee

The City of Stratford, the Town of St. Marys, the Township of Perth East, the Township of Perth South, the Municipality of North Perth and the Municipality of West Perth are working together to establish a Joint Compliance Audit Committee.

This Committee will review candidate or registered third-party election campaign finances following the 2026 election and for any by-elections that arise. The term of the JCAC will begin in 2026 and continue to November 2030.

The purpose of the Joint Compliance Audit Committee is to:

  • Consider compliance audit applications, decide whether they should be granted or rejected;
  • Appoint an auditor if the application is granted;
  • Receive the auditor’s report;
  • Consider the auditor’s report and decide if legal proceedings should be commenced; and
  • Advise Council of the originating compliance audit application whether the auditor’s report indicates apparent contraventions and whether there appears to be reasonable grounds for the application.

Applicants with a background in accounting, law, law enforcement and academics are encouraged to apply. Individuals who are running for office in Municipal Elections for any of the participating municipalities, or who have conducted audits or provided financial advice in respect of Municipal Elections for any of the participating municipalities or candidates will be disqualified.
