History

The Stratford Public Library has served the community for more than a century. The current building located on St. Andrew Street opened in 1903 and was funded through a donation from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, making it one of the historic Carnegie libraries built across North America.

Over time, the library has expanded to meet the changing needs of Stratford’s growing population, with major additions completed in 1926 and 1975. Today, the library continues to function as a vibrant gathering place where residents can access information, explore new ideas, and connect with their community.
