Become an Early Childhood Educator (ECE)

About Early Childhood Education

Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) in Ontario are part of a regulated workforce, and members of the College of Early Childhood Educators. Only individuals that are registered with the College may use the title ECE or RECE.

As the demand for licensed child care has grown in recent years, so has the demand for qualified staff. ECEs provide high quality care and play an important role in supporting the early development of children, setting a strong foundation for health, well-being, and positive outcomes throughout their lifespan.

ECEs work with children from infancy up to age 12 and work in licensed child care settings, including full day and before and after school programs, EarlyON Child and Family Programs, and in other sectors including research, policy, and education.
