Downie Street Temporary Road Closure September 21, 2026
Please note that Downie Street from St. Patrick Street to St. David Street will be closed to southbound traffic, starting Monday, Sept. 21 for approximately two weeks.
Northbound traffic will be maintained.
This temporary closure is to allow for the repaving of Downie Street along that stretch.
Detour signs will be in place to direct southbound traffic around the construction area.
Local traffic access will be maintained for vehicles attempting to travel southbound on Waterloo Street onto Douro Street or St. Patrick Street, but motorists are advised to use Erie Street instead, and avoid the area if possible.
Traffic access will also be maintained for vehicles travelling eastbound or westbound across St. Patrick Street and Douro Street, but vehicles will not be able to travel southbound onto Downie Street from St. Patrick Street or Douro Street.
The contractor will work with Stratford Transit to maintain bus access to the Downie Street terminal during all specified transit hours.
This the the first phase of the resurfacing project on Downie Street, between St. David Street and Ontario Street.
