Green Recognition Program Recipients
The City of Stratford recently recognized several local businesses, organizations, and individuals for their contributions to climate action through its Green Recognition Program.
The program highlights efforts to reduce emissions, divert waste, and support sustainability across the community.
This year’s recipients represent a wide range of initiatives across key categories, including energy management and electrification, green buildings, waste diversion, and low-carbon tourism.
FIO Automotive was recognized for achievements in both energy management and waste reduction, cutting 4,851 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions between 2023 and 2026 through electrification and efficiency upgrades. The company’s Stratford facility has also maintained zero waste to landfill since 2018, diverting about 17,600 tonnes of material in 2025.
Several recipients were honoured for waste reduction efforts. A Grade 7/8 Nancy Campbell class diverted about 20,000 pounds of food waste through a school green bin program. AISIN Canada diverted more than 6,000 pounds of organic waste, while Toner & Ink Shop was recognized for remanufacturing printer cartridges since 2008.
Local restaurants Pazzo Pizzeria and Café Bouffon compost up to 600 kilograms of organic waste weekly and have eliminated bottled water in favour of filtration systems. The Alzheimer Society of Perth and Huron was also recognized for reducing waste at its annual Soup’s On fundraiser, with additional recognition for Green Team Coordinator Jes Kapcza.
In the green buildings category, Blowes Stationery was recognized for renovating a historic downtown property with energy-efficient upgrades. Stratford General Hospital implemented 86 efficiency measures expected to reduce emissions by about 1,060 tonnes annually, while Stratford Honda upgraded lighting and installed electric vehicle charging stations.
Tourism-related recognition went to Stratford Vintage Market for promoting low-waste, local shopping, and Stratford Walking Tours for offering low-carbon visitor experiences.
Sheila Clarke received individual recognition for leading the Climate Conversations series, which brought residents together to discuss local climate action.
