Revenues and Taxation

The Treasury Division is responsible for all property tax related matters, along with accounts receivable.

  • Tax billing twice yearly, due dates 4 times per year, for approximately 13,000 accounts
  • Maintain automatic payments for over 6,000 properties
  • Issue revised and supplementary tax billings
  • Maintain assessment roll with current ownership and address changes
  • Process reductions as authorized by the Assessment Review Board (ARB) and the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC)
  • Provides information daily to property owners, banks, lawyers and general public
  • Requisition for payments-in-lieu of taxes
  • Collection of arrears
  • Initiate tax sale
  • Provide information regarding legislation and regulations pertaining to the Municipal Act as it relates to taxation
  • Assist with collections from parking meters and transit department

Paperless Billing with eSend

The Treasury Division is moving towards paperless options for property owners and customers to receive tax notices, accounts receivable invoices and statements and related finance correspondence by e-mail. This electronic service (“eSend”) will allow customers to save and retrieve documents electronically wherever they have access to email.

    • Interim Tax Notice in January

Remember:

  • Document Delivery: Once you start receiving documents by email, paper copies will no longer be produced or mailed.
  • Email Updates: You must resubmit the online form for email address updates.
  • Email Monitoring: Add eSend@stratford.ca to the safe senders list.
  • Payment Responsibility: Not receiving a bill does not exempt from the responsibility of timely payment
