The City of Stratford Day Camp Program is designed to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where every camper is valued, supported, and empowered to grow, explore, and create lasting memories.
The City of Stratford provides support through our Inclusion Coordinators, who have general training to assist children by adapting programs, managing behaviour, and offering other forms of support. This assistance is provided in a group setting rather than through one-on-one, continuous support, similar to the role of an Educational Assistant in classrooms.
To ensure a positive and safe camp experience, we ask parents/guardians to complete an inclusion intake form at the time of registration. Staff use this form to assess the accommodations required and determine how staff can best support the needs of the child. Staff will follow up with parents/guardians with any questions that may arise to better understand the needs of the child. Should our resources be unavailable or insufficient for the safety and wellbeing of the child we do welcome outside agencies/external companions/support staff to attend camp with the child to better assist them and their specific needs.
Understanding the needs vary from child to child, we look at each request individually. The number of campers that can be supported each week may vary based on support requested and the capacity of staff, as such, registration is not a guarantee. We recommend filling out an intake form to determine if the supports available meet your child’s needs or by emailing your questions to recreation@stratford.ca
