Notice of Temporary Street Closure - May 6, 2025

Please be advised that the following road will be closed to vehicular traffic on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, for the Miller Cup Rugby Tournament:

• Matilda Street between Oakdale Avenue and Smith Street

Work Begins on Erie Street Parking Lot Resurfacing

Work has begun on the resurfacing of the Erie Street parking lot.

This project is expected to take 8 weeks to complete, and will be done in stages. The first phase will focus on the lower lot, and the second phase will focus on the upper lot.

Parking will not be available in the portion of the lot under construction.

In addition to resurfacing, planned improvements to the lot also include storm drainage replacement, and repairs to sidewalk, curbs and gutters.

Spring Hydrant Flushing

Spring flushing of fire hydrants has begun in the City of Stratford, and will continue over the next six weeks.

This is something that the City does twice a year, typically in the spring and the fall, to remove iron that may have settled in the watermains, and as preventative maintenance on fire hydrants.

For Thursday, April 24, crews are expected to be working in the areas of:

• Maple Avenue, Graham Crescent, Wyatt Street, Whitelock Street
• Ontario Street, Douro Street, Devon Street

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Saturday

The City of Stratford will be holding its first Household Hazardous Waste collection of the year on Saturday, April 26.

The collection will take place at the landfill site at 777 Romeo Street South from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Trained professionals will be on hand to safely receive things like:

• Paints (please do not bring empty containers), varnish, solvents, caulking, glue
• Fuels, antifreeze, brake fluid
• Used motor oil and filters
• Batteries (household, rechargeable, automotive)
• Household cleaners (i.e....

Registration Opens March 1 for City Summer Day Camps and Swimming Lessons

Registration opens at midnight Saturday, March 1 for the City of Stratford’s summer day camps, swim day camps and swimming lessons.

Camps and lessons will begin in July and run until the end of August.
