As a result of the recent rainfall, the open air fire ban has been lifted in the City of Stratford. Burn permits can now be issued and must abide by the respective municipal open air burn by-law.
With the monitoring of rainfall and vegetation conditions, residents can now safely burn. Please continue to practise safe burning by doing the following:

There is currently one youth representative position available for a one-year term on the City of Stratford's Energy and Environment Advisory Committee.
The committee meets on the first Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. to advise Council relating to waste reduction initiatives, water and energy conservation and preservation of natural areas.

Effective midnight, Friday July 15, 2022, all open air fires that require a burn permit, as defined in By-law 5-2006, will be prohibited anywhere in the City of Stratford. This does not include backyard recreational fire pits.
This fire ban is being imposed due to the extreme dryness of all vegetation in the City of Stratford. Provincial forest and wild-land fire indicators are all at extreme levels. This ban shall remain in effect until further notice.

As a result of the highly contagious Avian Influenza (H5N1) affecting wild and domestic birds across Canada and around the world, the City of Stratford is urging residents and visitors not to feed local waterfowl, including geese, ducks and swans.
Hand feeding encourages birds to congregate around food sources, and can increase the probability of transmission of the Avian Influenza virus, also known as the “bird flu.”

On May 16, 2022, Stratford City Council agreed to a two-year collective agreement with The Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1385, representing Stratford inside employees.
The agreement is effective from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022, and has been ratified by members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees – Local 1385.
