Pre-Authorized Tax Payment Schedule - Potential Postal Strike

In light of a potential disruption to postal services later this month, the City of Stratford is issuing the Preauthorized Payment (PAP) Monthly property tax schedule earlier than usual. This advance notice ensures that property owners enrolled in the PAP-Monthly program receive the necessary information without delay. 

The notice will outline the automatic withdrawal amounts scheduled from July 1 through December 1, 2025.

Retail Closings on Victoria Day

Shoppers and merchants are reminded that under the Retail Business Holidays Act, Victoria Day – Monday, May 19, 2024, is among the days annually when most stores must be closed. 

The Act, administered by the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, exempts some retail operations, including but not limited to, gas stations, gardening centres and flower shops.

Spring Hydrant Flushing

Spring flushing of fire hydrants continues in the City of Stratford.

This is something that the City does twice a year, typically in the spring and the fall, to remove iron that may have settled in the watermains, and as preventative maintenance on fire hydrants.

For Monday, May 12, crews are expected to be working in the areas of:

• Forman Avenue, Britannia Street, Braemar Crescent, Briarhill Drive
• West Gore Street, Woods Street, John Street, Redford Crescent

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Saturday

The City of Stratford will be holding its first Household Hazardous Waste collection of the year on Saturday, April 26.

The collection will take place at the landfill site at 777 Romeo Street South from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Trained professionals will be on hand to safely receive things like:

• Paints (please do not bring empty containers), varnish, solvents, caulking, glue
• Fuels, antifreeze, brake fluid
• Used motor oil and filters
• Batteries (household, rechargeable, automotive)

Registration Opens March 1 for City Summer Day Camps and Swimming Lessons

Registration opens at midnight Saturday, March 1 for the City of Stratford’s summer day camps, swim day camps and swimming lessons.

Camps and lessons will begin in July and run until the end of August.
