Please be advised that the pathway on the north side of the Avon River, between Waterloo Street and Hillcrest Drive, will be closed starting Monday (Jan. 11) to allow for the replacement of the pedestrian footbridge near the intersection of James Street and William Street.
That bridge, which was built in 1970, was recommended to be replaced in a 2019 inspection report.
Construction is expected to last until mid-April, and the new bridge will be built in the same location.

On January 7, the Province of Ontario announced it would be extending the provision of emergency child care for eligible essential workers for their school-aged children.
These spaces will be allocated in chronological order from application date and will only be available to those who are on the list of eligible workers for emergency child care who have exhausted all other possibilities for child care. The targeted emergency child care program will be provided at no cost to eligible parents.

Five members of the Stratford Fire Department have tested positive for COVID-19.
