Canada Post Strike - September 2025 Update

Mail service to and from the City of Stratford will be interrupted as a result of the Canada Post strike.

MAIL FROM THE CITY:

If you are expecting a payment from the City of Stratford and do NOT have Electronic Funds Transfer (ETF) set up, your cheque will be processed in regular fashion and will be available for pickup at City Hall Ground Floor, Clerks’ Office (1 Wellington Street) on Wednesdays until mail delivery resumes. If you would like to sign up for future Electronic Funds Transfer payments please complete this form, or contact our office to have the form emailed to you https://www.stratford.ca/en/inside-city-hall/resources/CORPORATE-SERVICES/FINANCE/EFT-Request-Form.pdf

Ontario Works:

For City of Stratford Social Services clients who receive Ontario Works cheques by mail, we are in the process of reaching out to make arrangements for those cheques to be available at the Social Services office at 82 Erie Street for pickup. For third party vendors who receive payments via mail, we will be in touch next week to discuss options.

MAIL TO THE CITY:

If you normally pay your property taxes or other City invoices by mail, please consider alternative payment options:

Internet or in-person banking:

Payment of property taxes can be done through online banking via your financial institution or in-person at your financial institution.

Telephone:

Parking tickets can be paid by phone with a credit card at 519-271-0250 extension 5230 during business hours, or in person at City Hall Ground Floor, Clerks’ Office (1 Wellington Street).

In person:

Payments can be made in person at City Hall Ground Floor, Clerks’ Office (1 Wellington Street) during regular business hours – Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A secure drop box is also available at the back (Market Square) entrance of City Hall.
