Notice of Public Meeting under the Building Code Act - Proposed Draft Amendment to the Building By-Baw 112-2005, as amended, including Fee Schedule “A”
Stratford City Council will hold a public meeting on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers located on the 2nd floor of Stratford City Hall, 1 Wellington Street, Stratford ON N5A 6N6.
The purpose of the Public Meeting is to:
Specific amendments are to adjust the fees in the By-law, including Schedule A, on January 1, 2026, and the first day of January in each year thereafter, in accordance with the 12-month average change of the Statistics Canada Consumer Price index using the September-to-September rates. A new “Additional Inspection Fee” will also be added to Schedule A to provide a fee per additional inspection deemed necessary by the Chief Building Official or for call-back inspections. The draft By-law, including the new provision in Schedule “A” which has been bolded, is enclosed for ease of review and reference.
How to Get Involved
The purpose of a Public Meeting is to share information and to hear and consider public comments regarding the proposed amendments which can be reviewed by staff prior to Council’s consideration of the matter.

Comments received by Monday, November 10, 2025, will be summarized in the public meeting report. Comments received after this date will be summarized in a future report to Council.
All those present at the public meeting will be given the opportunity to speak. To speak at the public meeting, when the Mayor or Chair asks if there are any members of the public wishing to provide comments, please raise your hand and once acknowledged, proceed to the podium to provide your comments.

If you wish to be notified of the Council decision on this proposed amendment to the Building By-law, including Fee Schedule “A”, you must make a written request to the City Clerk by way of email, in person or regular mail/courier as listed below. Please note Council will not make a decision at the Public Meeting.
Notice of Collection of Personal Information
Personal information collected and recorded at the Public Meeting or through written submissions on this subject, is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended and the Building Code Act, 1992, S.O. 1992, c. 23". The personal information collected will be used by Members of Council and City of Stratford Staff in their consideration of this matter. The written submissions, including names and contact information and the associated reports arising from the public participation process, will be made available to the public, including publishing on the City's website. Video recordings of the Public Meeting may also be posted to the City of Stratford’s website.
