Stratford City Council is inviting residents and community groups to share their views on the future of the Grand Trunk Renewal Project at an upcoming special Council meeting.

Delegations will have the opportunity to speak at a dedicated, open session on Monday, April 20, at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers. The meeting details, agenda and background materials can be found on the Council Calendar on the City’s website at https://calendar.stratford.ca/meetings/Detail/2026-04-20-1800-Special-Council

The meeting will also be livestreamed through Zoom at https://stratford-ca.zoom.us/j/83538655966?pwd=ofbcDvW7LycN1G5lUg551KTnki1bPC.1

To participate, delegates should:

  • Read what to expect as a delegate.
  • Register via the online form
  • Be aware that registered delegations are limited to 10 minutes for their presentation
  • Note that no decisions will be made during this session.

The materials presented to Council during the three educational workshops are available for review and extra background:

  • Workshop #1 on January 27, 2026: Project foundation topics, including municipal development and Brownfields.
  • Workshop #2 on February 26, 2026: Partnerships, financial context.
  • Workshop #3 on April 9, 2026: Summarized the earlier workshops, shared the long-term municipal financial outlook, and gave management recommendations.

The April 20 report outlines a path forward for the Grand Trunk site, including a proposed $15 million municipal contribution toward a shared community facility, integrating site parking into the City’s broader downtown parking strategy, and undertaking market sounding to explore opportunities for mixed-use and residential development.

Together, the workshops and public feedback will help Councillors make informed decisions on the Grand Trunk site. Their next opportunity to introduce motions is the Regular Council session on April 27.
