The City of Stratford recognizes that staying active as an adult is important for personal independence and to help support a healthy, active social life. Our drop-in programs are for those adults who are 35 years of age and older, and do not require a membership.
Activities are generally hosted at the Stratford Agriplex
August 1, 2023 - Withdrawal from an Activity |
You may request to withdrawal from an activity. Here's how we will process your withdrawal: 1. Full Refund: We will gladly issue a refund or account credit for 100% of the activity fee provided your withdrawal request is received before 12pm on the business day prior to the activity start date. For example, if the activity is on a Monday morning, to receive a refund, you would need to contact our office no later than 12pm on the Friday before the Monday class. 2. No Account Credit or Refund: If the withdrawal request is received after 12pm the business day before the activity start date, no account credit or refund will be issued. All withdrawal requests must be made in person at the Stratford Agriplex, 357 McCarthy Road, Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 12pm, and 1 - 4:30pm, or by calling 519-271-4310 during the same business hours. |

To participate in activities, you must pre-register online, visit the Stratford Agriplex office at 357 McCarthy Road, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 12pm and 1 to 4:30pm.

LivFit Exercise with Diane and Grant Hernden for those 35 years of age and older. As retired secondary school teachers, having 30 years of service as educators in health and fitness, Diane and Grant hold numerous certifications including Certified Personal Trainer with Merit, Cancer Exercise Specialist and Older Adults Exercise Specialist. During the weekly hour sessions, LivFit participants will be lead through a safe and effective group exercise program to help increase muscle strength and restore balance. Individual strengths and abilities will be celebrated, and the class guarantees to provide enjoyment, laughs, and social connections in a friendly atmosphere. Diane and Grant welcomes all abilities. No membership required. |
Yoga - Chair |
Join Becca for a chair yoga! Practice postures will modify traditional yoga poses so that they can be done while seated in a chair. The modifications make yoga accessible for people who struggle to stand, and/or lack the mobility to move easily from standing to seated. Students will complete versions of gentle twists, hip stretches, forward bends and mild backbends, all combined with mindful breathing. |
Yoga - Flow |
Join Becca for a well-balanced weekly yoga class! Practice postures that facilitate balance and coordination, strength and mobility with a running theme of mindful breathing throughout. The class is for anyone 35 years of age and older. All abilities welcome. |
Level 1 Vinyasa (Flow) Yoga |
This yoga class will be presented in the stunning Dinner Rooney Workshop, a large activity room just off the main lobby of the Tom Patterson Theatre. With 220-degree views of the Avon River and park system, participants will step into a space where serenity is the vibe, with soft natural light filtering through the glass. The ambiance will be calming and will offer participants an opportunity to connect with their inner self and the world outside. This session will be led by certified yoga instructor Becca Barras, who has delivered several successful yoga classes at the Stratford Agriplex and has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. Becca exudes warmth and encouragement, making participants feel instantly at ease. Level 1 Vinyasa is the perfect opportunity for beginners to embark on their yoga journey, and for more experienced yogis to enjoy a gentle and grounding practice that embraces the beauty of the surrounding environment. The flow sequences in Level 1 Vinyasa are thoughtfully designed to gently introduce yoga poses and movements. Guided by Becca’s soothing voice, participants will move at a comfortable pace with the intention in every pose to build personal strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. The use of props and modifications will be encouraged to accommodate individual needs and abilities. |
Level 2 Vinyasa (Flow) Yoga |
For those seeking a greater challenge and faster-paced yoga experience, Level 2 Vinyasa is elevated from Level 1, with a more dynamic and invigorating flow. This yoga class will be presented in the stunning Dinner Rooney Workshop, a large activity room just off the main lobby of the Tom Patterson Theatre. With 220-degree views of the Avon River and park system, participants will step into a space where serenity is the vibe, with soft natural light filtering through the glass. This session will be led by certified yoga instructor Becca Barras, who has delivered several successful yoga classes at the Stratford Agriplex and has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. Becca exudes warmth and encouragement, making participants feel instantly at ease. Level 2 Vinyasa is ideal for those with a solid foundation in yoga and a desire to refine their practice. Participants will move through a series of more complex asanas, encouraging an exploration of personal limits, while supporting a deeper practice. While the pace is quicker, the emphasis on alignment and mindful movement will remain paramount. The dynamic flow of Level 2 will include hip and chest openers, balancing poses, core work, inversions, twists, and an exploration of new postures. |
