Scent Free Activity Spaces

As we continue to host weekly recreation activities at the Agriplex, we do wish to remind participating members and guests that we strive to have our activity spaces as scent-free zones.

An increasing number of people have developed sensitivities to certain chemicals. Scented products such as perfumes, colognes, aftershaves and other fragrances can trigger personal reactions and adversely affect the health of others including but not limited to headaches, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, upper respiratory symptoms, and shortness of breath. For those attending the Agriplex, please do your part to not wear or use any scented products.

Also, when spending time with others, please remember to be kind and considerate.

Available Activities

To participate in activities, you must be an active SLAAA member and register in advance online using our Recreation Registration. You can also register by visiting our front desk or by calling 519-271-4310 during office hours.

Pickleball Play Details

In 2024/2025 season, there are two different ways to get involved in pickleball:

  • Open Play - All are welcome to attend, regardless of ability. "Open Play" are drop-in sessions where participants play with whomever they choose; at random (whoever is on the court that day), or by organizing playing groups and games. See below.
  • "Board" Organized Play - In the spirit of having fun and being social, participants play with others having similar recreational abilities (not competitive), and games will be coordinated via a board "name tag" system. See below.
What is Open Play?

Open play sessions are available to anyone, regardless of ability.

  • Depending on the day of the week, each open play session will offer either 8 courts or 16 courts. There are no maximum limits to the number of players allowed in the gym at any given time. In busier session times, courts may fill up fast, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Unlike previous seasons, pre-registration into each session is no longer required. Participants simply show up (drop-in).
  • While not a requirement, it is recommended that players organize their own playing groups and games before arriving (i.e.: connect with your friends to have someone to play).
  • To participate in either "Open" or "Board" play sessions, participants need only register once for the season. As part of the activity registration process, participants will pay the seasonal activity fee. Registration will open on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

How to Participate in Open Play

  1. Have a current SLAAA membership ($40/year). See membership details.
  2. Register for Pickleball (process includes payment of seasonal activity fee).
  3. When the pickleball season opens on October 15, 2024, simply drop into an Open or Board play session. Participant registration and paid activity dues will be verified at main office reception prior to gaining access to the courts.
  4. Participants must not show up to change/play any greater than 15 minutes prior to the session start time.
  5. Participants are only permitted to take part in one session per day.
What is "Board" Play (Recreational)?

Known to many pickleballers as "Board Play", the purpose of these 1.5 hour sessions is to play others at random, in the spirit of having fun and being social.

  • Participants will receive a name tag and will be organized to play others using the "board" name tag system.
  • Games will be played to 9 or 11 points, after which the game will end. Unlike games in the past, they are not timed.
  • Players will then be re-paired using the "board" name tag system for the next game.
  • At any given time, players can choose to sit a game.
  • There are no maximum limits to the number of players allowed in the gym at any given time.

How to Participate for "Board Play"
